What Every Woman Ought to Know is built into a found, altered cash register cabinet. The drawers contain assemblages of tools and nineteenth century cabinet card photographs of young women. This piece is dedicated to a young woman who was recorded in an ambrotype from the 1860s. Her portrait was most likely taken near Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Here you see an enlargement of the ambrotype displayed next to the cabinet, with cabinet drawers taken out and arranged around the cabinet base.
