Loca Miraculi, Gallery Three: Catoptric Circle Box

Walking around the box creates another layer to the illusion: the round platform seems to spin, making the mice seem animated.

These kinds of “multiplying mirrors” were used by natural philosophers in the 1600s to study and teach optics.
