If Only We Had Met: Six Stories

2013-2014
mixed media

If Only We Had Met: Six Stories was commissoned by the Racine Art Museum. I was asked to fill the six windows running down the side of the museum with installations that incorporated the idea of ‘heirlooms’, RAM's 10th anniversary theme.

I decided to create a narrative for each window based on a found portrait photograph from my own collection. The photographs were all found in flea markets or antique stores in Wisconsin. The collection includes tintypes, ambrotypes, and cabinet card portraits ranging in age from the 1850s through the early 20th century.
