Fire (Transformation by Heat and Fire)

niche size: 16.5" wide x 8.5" tall x 7" deep
2020
volcanic rocks, archival inkjet print, wood

Rocks in this niche include obsidian, formed from molten lava, and a metamorphic rock called clinker. Clinker forms when sedimentary rocks are transformed through heat from coal seams burning underneath them.

The print shows Mt. Vesuvius erupting.
