Air (Bowerbird and Nest)

niche size: 2'5" wide x 9" tall x 8.5" deep
2020
taxidermied bird, mirror, pine twigs, grape vines, glass

This niche tells the story of the fabled Wisconsin bowerbird. Our bowerbird (a starling in winter plumage) is admiring himself in a mirror while he builds his bower. The pine twig bower is being adorned with red thorns and grapevine tendrils.

Real bowerbirds live in Australia and New Guinea.
